Water polo action at the Oakhill Waterfront Chukka Festival

After an exceptionally successful and festive water polo for primary schools last weekend, we are looking forward to hosting high schools at next weekend’s Oakhill Waterfront Chukka Festival.

From Thursday, 15 February to Sunday, 18 February around 400 participants from 21 high schools, comprising 30 teams in total – 15 boys teams and 15 girls teams – from Pretoria, East London, Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Cape Town will take to the water.

What makes these Chukka Festivals unique to any other school water polo event in the country, if not the world, is the fact that they are held in open water: the Knysna Estuary.

This unique appeal, as well as the beauty of the location and the offerings of the Waterfront, has resulted in the exponential success of the festival, now in its eighth year.

Oakhill invites locals and visitors alike to come enjoy excellent and action-packed water polo and festivities coupled with splendid weather this coming weekend. Games are played from 07:00 – 17:00 on Friday and Saturday and until 13:00 on Sunday at the Knysna Waterfront Quays.

Schools to look out for are: Bridge House, Camps Bay High School, Clarendon High School, Collegiate, DSG, Fish Hoek High School, Graeme College, Grey High School, Kingswood College, Paul Roos Gymnasium, Pearson High School, Pinelands High School, Rhenish Girls’ High School, Somerset College, St Alban’s College, St Cyprian’s School, St Dominic’s Priory, Woodridge College, Wynberg Boys High School and Wynberg Girls High School as well as the hosts Oakhill School.
