Oakhill Prep Madiba Cupcake Drive

Oakhill Prep Madiba Cupcake Drive

In recognition of Nelson Mandela and as part of our 67 minutes for Madiba, Oakhill Prep School ran a cupcake drive on Thursday 6 September. The purpose of this drive was to thank people from our community who serve others and to acknowledge what they do for our town. The idea was the brainchild of one of our Grade 5 children who wanted to do something to recognise those that serve us and to give them something small in return.

We distributed, with the kind help of our class moms, cupcakes to the emergency services, the municipality, charities and other organisations that serve the community. The idea was to try and get each child in our school to produce, preferably by making themselves, six plain cupcakes that would then be taken to school to be iced and decorated. Our children iced the cupcakes (using icing kindly donated to us by Knysna Spar) following which the cupcakes were distributed along with individual messages of thanks from the children to the causes identified. Approximately 1000 cupcakes were produced and distributed.
