Great vibe at 2020’s U19 Chukka

What a fantastic four days of friendly, fun, yet competitive water polo at our U19 Chukka Festival! This action-packed event once again attracted participants and spectators from all over South Africa.

Both our 1st teams displayed great competitive spirit and sportsmanship, with the boys winning four of their games and drawing three, and the girls winning all eight of their games! Thanks to everyone involved for making the weekend such a great success – coaches, players, organisers, parents and supporters. We look forward to welcoming junior high school teams to the U15 Chukka Festival in two weekends time.

Knysna-Plett Herald’s Blake Linder reported, “Knysna’s love affair with school water polo action continued last weekend when the second of three Oakhill Waterfront Chukka Festivals took place at the Knysna Waterfront. The festival – the U19 edition – took the Waterfront by storm last weekend with four days of water polo action that saw a total of 21 schools and 30 teams taking part in matches played right through from Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning.  The festival brought schools from all over the country to Knysna, with the furthest travellers coming from as far as Pretoria (St Alban’s College), while the remainder of the schools belonged to either the Western or Eastern Cape. The weekend’s proceedings were capped off by matches between Woodridge and Oakhill’s girls teams, in front of huge crowds in the Phil Stewart Pool outside Drydock Restaurant. The third and final chukka festival will be the U15 edition to take place next weekend (27 February to 1 March) with 16 schools from around the country flocking to Knysna. Photo gallery
