Fun and informative Prep outings

Our Prep grades regularly go on various fun and education outings. Not only does this take learning out of the classroom in a hands-on and fun way, it also broadens the pupils’ minds to things or ideas they may not have experienced or thought of before.

Recently, our Grade Ones went to Redberry Farm for a day of strawberry picking and other outdoor garden activities as a culmination of our “What’s ‘growing on’ in Thrasscot’s Garden” theme. The children learned many interesting facts about strawberry growing, each picked a punnet of delicious strawberries, enjoyed a fresh strawberry juice at the tea-garden and rode around on the Redberry express train. What a super day of fun and interactive outdoor learning they had!

Our Grade 5s, on the other hand, enjoyed an outing to Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary in Plettenberg Bay. Visiting Jukani was not just about viewing predator cats, but rather about being enlightened on conservation education and specifically the plight of large predators in captivity, in South Africa and all over the world.
