Fathers’ Evening at Little Oaks

Fathers’ Evening at Little Oaks

On Thursday Dads and Little Oaks arrived back at school at 5pm. The children sang songs and the Gr R’s performed a skit. Dads, Grandpas, older brothers and special people were welcomed and beckoned to meet their children in their individual classes.

Each year,  the aim is to encourage bonding through building, and this year the theme was ‘Dad, you light up my life’. The key equipment included a battery, a bulb and some wire. Each class had very different resources with which to work and while some had stringent instructions, others had more carte blanche. Each pair however created something unique and it was very special to observe the relationships in the room.

Little lamp lights glowed everywhere outdoors, together with a full moon, as supper was shared on the verandah. Laughter and happy conversations were heard until yawns took over… and the 2014 Soccer World Cup was about to begin! It was truly a special evening. Thanks to ALL those who joined us, and to the Dads who flew in from many corners of the earth – literally. May your lights always burn bright and warm for one another.
