Viljoen sisters receive angling accolades

During the holidays, sisters Gené and Chanzelee Viljoen received accolades at the annual prize-giving of the Eden Light Tackle Boat Angling Association. Gené (Grade 8) was awarded with the gold medal and trophy for Eden Top Junior Angler 2018/2019 (combined U16 and U21). She was also captain of the U16 team that represented Eden at the 2019 National Championship during the March school holidays in Velddrif. Gené currently ranks 28th in the country on the national ranking list for U16 and U21 combined.

Chanzelee (Grade 10) received a certificate for her Eden Junior record for a Shad that was caught and recorded. Chanzelee currently holds two Eden Junior records – a Carp of 6,35kg and the Shad of 1,1 kg. She did not take part in the National Championship this year due to Odyssey and thus could not improve on her national ranking, where she currently holds 58th position.

Both girls will start the new season in August, preparing for National Championship, which will be from 21 – 28 March 2020 at Oranjeville on the Vaaldam.
