Oakhill Foundation Phase children have been exploring, celebrating and learning more about the Olympics 2016 and have extended this theme across the curriculum to other experiences. These Grade 1 – Grade 3 embraced Olympic Fever and internalised some very valuable life skills and lessons that may be gained from the Olympic theme; Goal setting, Perseverance & Practice, Teamwork, Sportsmanship, Diversity & Acceptance.
On Friday 22 July, in keeping with the spirit of the Olympics and to contribute to our local community during the ‘67 Minutes for Madiba’ celebration, each child was challenged to a “Sandwich Making Marathon” with the bread, margarine and jam that they had donated. The students made their sandwiches during their dedicated time and they were delivered to 9 local Knysna community crèches who truly appreciated them.
