Oakhill is proud of all our dancers who took part in the recent Port Elizabeth Dance Eisteddfod. Annually, students from across the country are invited to compete in this highlight on the dancing calendar, and Oakhill learners certainly did both Oakhill and their respective dancing teachers proud.
Nadine du Plessis (Grade 7), a dancer with Carmen de Sousa’s School of Dance, won her age category and the significant title of Junior Ballet Champion. Carmen’s other students, Celyn Godfrey (Grade 1), Madison Starkey (Grade 2) and Zara Orsman (Grade 6) also danced superbly in the ballet sections, as did Lilian Cowie (Grade 7) from Sidwell Roman School of Ballet. Une van Zyl’s dancers, Erin Payton (Grade 6), Holly Battell (Grade 7) and Ashley Cairncross (Grade 7), participated in the modern and tap sections, obtaining excellent results.
