Aimee CannyCongratulations to Aimee Canny, who has recently qualified for South Africa Seniors, Juniors and Youth in the 50m breaststroke, as well as achieving a SA Junior time for 100m freestyle!

Earlier this year, Aimee was also awarded one of the highest sporting accolades in the region, winning the title of Eden junior sportswoman of the year. This was announced at the Eden Sport Awards 2017 held in Riversdale on Thursday, July 27.

Aimee has had an outstanding year in all her chosen sporting disciplines at school and provincial levels. Her highest achievement in the past year has no doubt been in the swimming pool, where she qualified and swam at junior and senior nationals. At SA junior nationals, Aimee won a bronze, a silver and two gold medals. Following that gala she was chosen as part of the SA youth squad, which identifies potential future SA swimmers. Her swimming coach Grant Ferguson is exceptionally proud of Aimee and says, “I really admire how calm she is before a race, which shows the true traits of an Olympic champion.”
