Making waves at SA Water Polo

Congratulations to Hannah Verrier who has been selected as one of the four SA U16 water polo goalkeepers to tour New Zealand for the 15th Pan Pacific Youth Water Polo Festival in July! Sophia Trollip is one of two non-travelling reserves who will continue training with the SA U16 squad.

The two Grade 10 pupils represented the South African U16 Girls Water Polo Team in The FINA Africa Qualifiers & CANA Zone IV Youth Champs. This international tournament took place in Durban from 7 to 11 March, where the South African U16 team played against Zimbabwe U18A, Zimbabwe U18B and South Africa U17.This is the first time ever that Oakhill School has had two players represented at National level for water polo – Hannah as goalie and Sophia as a forward and wing. They are two of the three SWD/Eden representatives selected from this region, with the third player Kirsten Barbour from Glenwood House in George. These three girls were selected from the top 46 girls nationally at the SA Schools tournament in December 2017, and then continued to the U16 National Training Squad in Johannesburg from 23 – 25 March where they participated with about 40 players from across the country.

Oakhill is very proud of girls and congratulates them on their national achievements! Read more in Knysna Plett Herald’s article – https://goo.gl/xnsNWd
