The Knysna Arts Festival kicks off tomorrow, and is hosted in various venues across Knysna until Saturday. The festival includes over 60 events this year – amongst the huge variety of visual arts are high quality, theatrical performances fresh from the (Grahamstown) National Arts Festival, with several of these productions having received glowing reviews for their ‘off the wall’ innovation and comedy.

Two fabulous productions are being hosted at Oakhill School Hall on Saturday, 10 October 2015: ‘Rose Red’ at 14h00 (R80pp – Rated PG) and ‘Dear Breeder’ at 16h00 and 19h30 (R80pp – Rated PG). Tickets are available at all Sotheby’s Knysna Offices.

‘Rose Red’ at 14h00 on Saturday 10 October – R80pp – Rated PG

The well-known fairytale, Snow White, told through the eyes of the Evil Queen. This multi-layered single-handed cabaret starring Diane Simpson allows us to hear the other side of the classic story. Wickedly fun, thought provoking and touching, it features songs by Cold Play, Tori Amos, Lady Gaga, and others.

Flawless’ – The Daily Maverick

Mad Brilliance’ – Artslink

A bewitching and faultless performance’ – West Cape News

A Shining Gem’ – The Star

‘Dear Breeder’ at 16h00 and 19h30 on Saturday 10 October – R80pp – Rated PG

A multiple award-winning musical comedy that is as absurd as the art of parenting itself. Three uniquely insane, instantly recognisable South African mothers encounter Darth Vader, the underwear fairy and a staple-gun-wielding baby Jesus. (2014 Standard Bank Ovation Award, Best New SA Script and Best Comedic Performance, Durban Theatre Awards.)

“..nothing short of genius” – The Witness

“Clever, quirky, hilariously funny” – artSmart
